Station  8 - Downtown   Matthews  Demonstration  Area

For each of the demonstration areas, a detailed station area plan and vision was developed based on stakeholder and community input. The station area vision has been broken down into 3 phases of development opportunities based on the following criteria. There are not time frames associated with these:

  • Phase 1: Parcels that will be impacted by the project and will likely be attractive for redevelopment early.

  • Phase 2: Parcels adjacent to the Silver Line, but not directly impacted. Many of these are currently vacant or underutilized or directly benefit from being adjacent to the station.

  • Phase 3: Properties that may need additional actions (parcel consolidation) or infrastructure investment to encourage redevelopment.

The below map summarizes key infrastructure needs that would need to be built to provide basic street and multimodal connectivity to the station and support new development around the station. This is not an exhaustive list of infrastructure but highlights the key needs in order to maximize access to the station over time.
